Fiber Fiends
Fiber Fiends
Mission: Fiber Fiends is a club that aspires to supportive and uplift fiber artists and other creatives who’s work isn’t traditionally recognized as art, such as crochet, knitting, embroidery, macrame, and more. We aim to create a space for everyone who wants to get involved, including those who are masters at their craft, those who want to learn, and everyone in between. The meetings will occur once a week for about an hour and a half, and will have different activities each time. We will start off by learning how to crochet, and from there, hopefully branch out to other crafts such as friendship bracelet making or origami.
When I had first applied to GCC, I immediately went to ASGCC’s website to view the different clubs that were offered on campus, and was crushed when I found out there was not yet an arts and crafts club. By creating Fiber Fiends, in addition to creating a space for creatives, I hope to make more people feel seen because there is a club made for them.
